
A Partner (Spouse, Fiancé, Defacto Spouse, or Interdependent
partner) of an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident does not
have an automatic right to residence in Australia.
The person wishing to remain in Australia must apply for the relevant
visa and must be sponsored by an Australian citizen or a permanent
resident.
These categories of Family Migration also may require an Assurance
of Support from an Australian permanent resident or citizen - meaning
that the assurer must:-
> Lodge a monetary bond with The Commonwealth Bank of Australia

> Pay a Migration Health Services Charge.
> Undertake to provide sufficient direct or indirect financial
assistance .
