A Partner ( Spouse, Fiancé, or Defacto Spouse ) of an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident does not have an automatic right to residence in Australia.

The person wishing to remain in Australia must apply for the relevant visa and must be sponsored by an Australian citizen or a permanent resident.
